Fusarium infestation of cereal ears causes yield losses and has a significant effect on the quality of production. Fusarium head blight is the most significant ear disease, and mycotoxin contamination of grain has become a serious problem. Choosing the appropriate fungicide protection for the ear and keeping the grain healthy until harvest is important.
Cereal ear protection
Fungicide solutions from ALMIRO energy for vegetation s.r.o., provide quality and reliable protection of cereal crops against ear diseases. ALMIRO®Tebuconazole and Patel 300 EC find their application against leaf spots or rusts and especially show high efficiency on fusarium head blight. ALMIRO®Tebuconazole, a broad-spectrum systemic fungicide product, contains tebuconazole 500 g/l as the active substance that is rapidly systemically distributed in plants. Fungicide treatment is carried out at the recommended rate of 0.5 l/ha. Patel 300 EC fungicide, containing prothioconazole 300 g/l as the active substance, can also be used for ear protection. Targeted ear applications are carried out at the recommended rate of 0.65 l/ha. A combination of both triazoles provides reliable protection. The active substances of these fungicides complement each other well and increase the certainty of the effectiveness of the fungicide intervention. The recommended dosage for joint application is 0.2–0.3 l/ha of ALMIRO®Tebuconazole + 0.3–0.5 l/ha of Patel 300 EC.
In addition, the penetration of the fungicide’s active substance into the plant can be enhanced by a joint application of the fungicide with ALTRON Silver New. This results in a positive effect on TGW and yield quality, in addition to better ear protection. ALTRON Silver New application is recommended at a rate of 0.3 l/ha.
Support for plant protection and development
The possibilities of promoting the efficacy of applied fungicides and positively influencing yield are not only relevant for cereal crops and winter oilseed rape. The use of ALTRON Silver New should not be overlooked, especially by sugar beet, poppy and maize growers. ALTRON Silver New and its application in sugar beet crops should be combined with fungicides against leaf spot, wherein the effect of the fungicide used, yield and sugar content are positively influenced. An increase in leaf area and a more robust root system are promoted. Soil nutrients are more readily available to the plants, and the plants are also better able to withstand summer dry spells. In case of strong infection pressure in sugar beet crops, the recommended dose can be increased to 0.6 l/ha.
Poppy growers can apply ALTRON Silver New at the extension growth stage to promote pollen tetrad formation, improved pollination and nutrient uptake, or at the hook stage to positively influence seed amount in the poppy-head and TGW. The penetration and distribution of the fungicide’s active substance are supported when applied along with fungicides.
ALTRON Silver New can be used in maize crops in the 5th to 8th leaf stage to promote pollen tetrad formation, better pollination and nutrient uptake. The second use is in conjunction with applying an insecticide against the maize borer. ALTRON Silver New’s advantage is its strong anti-stress effects (drought, cold, herbicide stress).
Zinc plays a very important role in the cultivation of poppies and maize. This element contributes to the proper functioning of metabolic processes in plant cells. The supply of zinc to plants improves assimilation and plant vigour and positively influences yield and quality. Overall, zinc promotes better plant rooting, growth and development. ALMIRO energy for vegetation s.r.o., offers an immediate solution to zinc deficiency with ALMIRO®ZINETIC, a liquid concentrate of organically bound zinc that is a source of a highly effective acetate-uronium form of zinc. In poppy crops, ALMIRO®ZINETIC should be applied during the extension growth stage at the recommended rate of 0.8 l/ha. In maize crops, it should be applied during the 5th to 8th leaf stage at the recommended rate of 1 l/ha.
In addition to zinc, sulphur, which affects the plant’s usage of nitrogen and phosphorus, should not be forgotten. ALMIRO®SN Prosulfan sulphur-nitrogen plant biostimulant provides a gentle and effective sulphur uptake. It is a source of fast-acting thiosulfate and slow-acting elemental sulphur. In addition to sulphur, ALMIRO®SN Prosulfan contains nitrogen in both ammonium and fast-acting amide forms. It should be applied at a rate of 5 l/ha or, in case of several applications, 3 l/ha.
Finally, it is worth mentioning ALMIRO®H2O Clean, a liquid nitrogen-potassium plant biostimulant that adjusts water hardness and pH. Any neutral to slightly basic chemical reaction of the water is adjusted to the desired slightly acidic reaction (approx. pH 6). ALMIRO®H2O Clean positively influences the effectiveness of the pesticides used. The recommended dosage depends on the degree of hardness of the water used.
