Controlling harmful agents, including weeds, is an essential part of winter oilseed rape cultivation. Oilseed rape itself has little competitive ability in its early growth stages. If weeds quickly overgrow it, the vegetation can be damaged, and the quality of autumn development disrupted. Treatments need to be well thought out, and the right herbicide control must be chosen.
Reliable against seed cast and wheatgrass
ALMIRO®Quizalofop offers an effective solution for the control of weed seed cast in winter oilseed rape. This product should be applied at a rate of 0.7–1 l/ha, preferably from the 2nd or 3rd leaf stage to the tillering stage. This selective post-emergence herbicide contains quizalofop-P-ethyl as the active substance, and is registered for use in oilseed rape and sugar beet. In the case of coach grass, ALMIRO®Quizalofop should be applied at a rate of 2–2.5 l/ha, depending on the intensity of the weed infestation and the vegetation conditions at the time of application. The product's advantages include its high selectivity, speed of action and application in Protection Zone II for groundwater and surface water.
Effective control and fungicidal protection
An important role in oilseed rape protection in autumn is high-quality and timely fungicide protection, which, together with growth regulation, represents the basis for the good overwintering of oilseed rape. Regulation, including reliable protection, is offered by ALMIRO®Tebuconazole, a broad-spectrum systemic fungicide containing tebuconazole as the active substance. Treatment should be applied at the 4- to 8-leaf stage at a rate of 0.4 l/ha.
Even better plant protection and development
The ideal combination to maintain excellent plant health is the combination of this fungicide with ALTRON Silver New. This combination promotes improved vegetation health by positively influencing plant immunity and supporting the penetration of the active substance in the fungicide product. The recommended combination is 0.3 l/ha of ALTRON Silver New + 0.4 l/ha of ALMIRO®Tebuconazole. ALTRON Silver New can also be applied in autumn to winter cereal crops. In the early development stages, the formation of shoots and root hair growth is promoted. It is recommended to apply ALTRON Silver New at a rate of 0.3 l/ha from the 2nd or 3rd leaf of the cereal crop.
Practice-proven autumn treatment of cereal crops
High-quality and timely herbicide intervention, as in the case of winter oilseed rape, is equally important in the cultivation of cereal crops. The combination of ALMIRO®Diflufenican and ALMIRO®Flufenacet offers a proven guarantee against weeds, including oilseed rape cast seed. ALMIRO®Diflufenican contains diflufenican 500 g/l as an active substance and is registered for treating winter cereal crops and summer barley at a rate of 0.125–0.375 l/ha. It is effective against a wide range of dicotyledonous weeds. ALMIRO®Flufenacet contains flufenacet 500 g/l as the active substance and is an effective solution for the control of monocotyledonous weeds such as wind grass, foxtail, ryegrass and barren brome. Its great advantage is also its long-term residual action. ALMIRO®Flufenacet is registered for autumn application on winter wheat at a rate of 0.24-0.35 l/ha and, from 2024, also on winter barley. A tank-mix of both products at a rate of 0.3 l/ha of ALMIRO®Diflufenican + 0.3 l/ha of ALMIRO®Flufenacet offers an ideal combination for autumn control of grasses and dicotyledonous weeds in winter cereal crops.
